Now they need a depth D til their regulars return. Chara??? Danny Dekeyser is more mobile and can be had for a $1M. Stalman?

Smells like some cap circumvention is in play but hey no one ever accused of the Bruins of cheating.

The Bruins have somehow managed to underpay their stars for two decades, not sure it's cheating at this point.

Remember all the articles about how the Bruins were playing with fire regarding Bergeron?

No extension yet - oh my.

It's UFA day and he still isn't signed - that's an automatic E3 on signing in Montreal.

If the Pens lose Malkin, could Bergeron be an option?

Hearing there could be a rift with GM Don Sweeney - more to come.

In the end, one giant nothing burger as predicted all along.

Can anyone please explain why Pavel Zacha is worth $3.5 million???!!!
Sweeney is the absolute biggest moron of a GM out there...trading his (investment wise/value wise) signing from last year in Haula for Zacha???

Because 2015 draft rejects hold a special place in Sweeney's heart.

Sign Chara, Boychuk, and Michael Ryder for the third line! Is Tim Thomas' hip better?

Bergeron and Krejci could of got much more on open market so classy and loyal by both of them. Now if coyle, debrusk, foligno, smith and zacha dont start to produce time to trade well before trade deadline

Not a Bruins fan. But the reaction to Zacha seems exaggerated. His qualifying offer was $3M. He had arbitration rights. What did you expect? If they went to arbitration they could point to the fact that he produced at a 45-point pace over the last 3 seasons. That's better than Miles Wood who just signed for $3.2M. Comparable to Kasperi Kapanen who signed for $3.2M and will also expire as UFA. Another way to view this...would you rather have 31-year old Erik Haula for one more season or spend $1M more on 25-year old Zacha and see if he takes the next step? You can afford that extra $1M knowing that veterans took big discounts. If Zacha sucks you can also just walk away without being locked in for 2-3 years. Maybe you could have gotten down to $3.3M or $3.2M, but this isn't a gross overpayment. Don't trade for an RFA with rights and a $3M QO if you weren't prepared to pay that.

Want a deal. Get Lawson Crouse's agent. 4.3M for Lawson Crouse? That agent should be wearing a mask
